It’s overwhelming to think that the baby I just had is soon to be a teenager. It was hard watching him during his rite of passage from boyhood to manhood. Nakakaiyak maging nanay!
It was harder to discipline him but he listens more now. And I encourage him to open up and share with me what he feels and thinks, specially when we argue. Communication and spending time with a teenager is I think the key to raise them well.
And when it comes to bonding, I always take the opportunity to have a special moment with my first born. Kaya when ASUS sent me a ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5S for unboxing and review, I asked my first born to help me with it. Look, I mean watch, our finished product:
ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5 S Unboxing
He knows a lot about unboxing since he watches unboxing videos on Youtube. Ang saya di ba? For a moment, it was the child who’s guiding the mom.
It took us all morning to finish the unboxing video and a lot of takes pero sobrang saya. We would stop pag nagising si Marius then resume pag tulog na.. Pag nabulol, opps! tawanan then retake hahaha
Making unboxing videos is now one of our favorite bonding activity!

May 14, 2016 at 12:41 pmMy son is a teenager now – 14 – and wants nothing to do with me. He is rude, disrespectful and won’t listen at all. He’s driving me bonkers!

May 15, 2016 at 1:47 amI agree spending time and talking with your child/teenager is important. I try to keep the lines of communication open with my pre-teen as well. I don’t want there to be any reason he doesn’t come to me about anything.
