I am very excited to share with you the 5 Things About Baby Skin That You Need To Know. To be honest, I didn’t know most of it until a few days ago during the launch of Belo Baby. I know I still need to learn a lot about babies and kids pero akala ko when it comes to caring for a baby, alam ko na lahat. When it comes to baby skin care, kaunti lang pala alam ko.
#1 Baby Skin is not like the adult skin
Baby skin is not fully developed unlike the skin of the adult. Baby’s skin is 20-30% thinner than the skin of the adults. Do you know the thinnest part of your skin? It’s the skin under your eyes. Just imagine how thin a baby’s skin is.
Baby skin is different from adult skin not just on the structure but also how the skin functions.
#2 Baby Skin is not as effective temperature regulator
One of the difference between the adult of the skin and baby skin is the ability to regulate temperature. Baby skin is not as effective when it comes to regulating the temperature. And because of that, baby is more susceptible to over heating or becoming too cold.
#3 Baby Skin is more prone to dry skin
Baby skin is more prone to dry skin because of its structure. Baby skin has less Natural Moisturizing Factor molecules that keeps the cells hydrated making the skin less capable of retaining moisture.
To keep the baby skin well moisturized, use baby lotion as often as possible, specially after taking a bath.
#4 Baby skin does not need to be washed often
Bathing can actually remove the skin’s natural oil and baby’s skin does not produce that much natural oil. Bathing often can lead to baby skin dryness.
Since baby skin does not need to be washed often, make everything bathing activity counts with your baby.
#5 Baby skin absorbs easily
Baby skin has fewer lipids (fats). Lipids serves as the solid barrier of the skin. This is one of the reason why baby’s skin is very sensitive. Their skin does not have an effective defense against damage. Given that, the skin of baby easily absorbs any thing we put onto it. When using any product for the baby, always make sure that it is safe for your baby.

April 20, 2016 at 4:44 pmI agree! Sensitive talaga ang skin ng mga bata and your blog is very informative. I also buy mild products (soap and baby wash) for my kids…but I haven’t tried Belo Baby yet. Maybe soon considering that it’s very affordable but I think I’ll have to read the label first, just to be sure.

April 21, 2016 at 11:17 pmMy stash has almost run out, I need to get a new bottle of baby wash and soap. Belo Baby products worked so well with my 5-year old’s skin problems. Iguess it’s because it didn’t irritate them further.

April 21, 2016 at 11:21 pmBelo is synonymous to vanity for me, thus I find their move to introduce baby products as a bold and smart one. I think this mama will try some baby Belo products as Ive read a few nice reviews. And by the way, thanks for reminding me re the five facts re baby’s skin.

April 22, 2016 at 2:03 amI’ve seen these products in Robinson’s already. 🙂 Where were these products when I was searching for gentle products when my son was still a wee little baby? I’ll definitely give the bath a try for my kiddo.
It’s a good thing that these kinds are now being produced in the market.

April 22, 2016 at 9:09 amThe facts you shared about baby skin is super true! Bunny’s skin is very sensitive which is why we have to seek her derma’s approval first before we use any products. It is great though that Belo came out with a line which is good for babies! Might try the cologne first. 🙂
