I don’t really believe in aswang, kase hello, scientifically impossible sila..
Uhmmm not until I got pregnant with Baby (babies) #5. Tatlo na aswang chronicles ko ð though I never really encountered the typical aswang portrayed on most movies and tv shows, my experiences led me to believe that there really are creatures that enjoy torturing pregnant women.
My Aswang Experiences
1st aswang experience:
It was during my 1st trimester.. maybe between 8-10 weeks. I had an eerie feeling that there is something wrong. That was late at night.. somewhere between 11 PM to 2 AM. The dogs are barking.. not, they’re howling. The kind of howl that seems like they’re chasing something. The howls went on, circling our street and the street parallel to us. Parang umiikot kung ano man ung nakikita nila or tinatahulan nila. It happened twice that night.
2nd aswang experience:
If not for my helper who comes from Roxas, I wouldn’t know all about aswang and how to fend them off.
It happened before a few days before Christmas. Around 10 in the evening, my  helper noticed a big dog circling the house. I checked on it on the door and as I move from our back door to the front door, the dog followed me. Parang masyadong maamo ung aso, I even asked my mother kung pinakain ba nya kase parang syang nag aantay na pakainin sya or something to that effect. As in nakatanghod sya sa akin and waiting for something. Usually pag tinaboy mo ang aso, natatakot tapos umaalis na, that one was different. Kakaiba talaga sya and it’s circling the house following me.
Binato ng asin ng helper ko and that’s the only time it left. After the incident my helper said I should be more careful specially after 6 PM. Aswang daw yung aso. She even gave me tips on how to fend of those kind of creatures.
3rd aswang experience:Â
This happened just this morning. It’s not the same as the one from my 2nd experience but the look in their eyes are the same. Ganun din, sinusundan sundan nya ako.. but this time, hindi sya makapasok sa loob ng bakuran, punong puno kase ng bawang lahat ng bintana namin eh.
It was scary but I always pray to Mama Mary to guide and protect me so I know I’m safe. Even so, there is no harm in practicing some beliefs to fend of this kind of creature.
These are according to my friend (who’s family is from Visayas) and my helper who is from Roxas/ Capiz boundary.
- Hide your pregnancy scent. According to my helper, aswangs love the scent of a pregnant women (specially first trim and last trim and babies below one month old).Hide that scent from them by rubbing calamansi extract on your stomach.
- Hide your pregnancy from them by wearing black underneath. Wear black panty or black camisole.
- Always have garlic on your bag when you go out.
- Put garlic around your house, specially on the window.
- Put rock salt (not iodized salt) around your house.
Here are some other ways to fend off aswang according to my FB friends:
- Aside from bawang at asin, keep something sharp and pointed by your bed side (-Annalyn)
(-Tetcha)
- May asin saka walis tambo ako sa bintana namin. Di ko inaalis, nandun pa din til now. (-Kath)
- If alam nyo yung tanim na san jose, nabibili sa may Quiapo. Pwede nyio ilagay may bintana nyo (-Grace)
- Wear black panty up to your waist to cover your belly button. (-Angie)
- Aside sa asin and bawang dapat daw ung attitude mo is mas matapang ka and di ka takot sa aswang/tiktik. (-Audz)
Naranasan nyo na ba aswangin? Heard the famous story of aswangs? Yep the one portrayed by Manilyn Reynes, my helper said it’s a true to life story. Even before the movie came out, my helper already knew about it since it is one of the oldest aswang story in Capiz. Do you believe in asawang?!?

I also wear any clothes na black bago mag 6pm

February 5, 2016 at 2:01 pmYes, Mommy Pehpot. My grandma had an experience when my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother.

February 6, 2016 at 1:08 pmI definitely can relate to this post. Actually, what we did in our house is we put some sharp and pointed plants on every corner up in the roof area, yung parang Kalamansi miniature tree na plant. Then sa windows, we put some salt that is what you post and of course every night I sleep beside my bronze batangas knife or anything that is made of bronze. And never forget the wearing of black, as the old folks say, aswang cannot detect the pregnancy if you wear black underwear and clothes para di transparent tingnan sa kanila. They are like have these xray eyes lol. Quiet scary but I did feel the presence of aswang as I have my first trimester period.

February 6, 2016 at 6:54 pmOur former house help once told me that aswang is real. She is from Samar. On my first two pregnancies, I used to have scissors beside me. Then BAGO Ako matulog, tumitingin muna Ako sa kisame Kung may butas. Ihihi. With my last two pregnancies, I’m not that praning na Pero somehow cautious pa rin.

February 6, 2016 at 10:54 pmafaik, I didn’t have any aswang encounter when I was pregnant. I remember hearing some unusual sounds like “birds” flying but I never thought of it as aswang. One thing I had though, was a stick made of buntot ng pagi. We placed it underneath our bed for protection as suggested by my officemates.

February 8, 2016 at 9:42 amWaah ang creepy naman! We are from Laguna and my brother did not let me have a sleep over in our house when I was pregnant. May tiktik daw dun samin. I heard some tiktik stories din even from my sister in law. Kaya during my pregnant days ko kay bf (hubby now) ako nakatira. Thanks for the tips, I know what to do on my next pregnancy.

February 8, 2016 at 10:13 amNever really experienced it but I did feel na palaging may nakatingin. I guess kaya hindi masyadong strong ang presence gawa ng dogs namin and they say na may good spirits in our house which prevents the bad ones from coming in.

February 10, 2016 at 9:05 amI’ve never experienced an aswang but I wouldn’t discount it. I am more the scientific type and don’t listen to pamanhiin and that stuff. Your stories though a re a bit spooky.

February 10, 2016 at 1:52 pmOh my I had a similar experience during my 8th to 9th week naman. That time hindi ko pa alam. After a week, nagPT ako and then yun, positive na ako.

February 11, 2016 at 7:05 amI personally believe in aswang though hindi pa ako nakakaexperience.

February 13, 2016 at 3:17 pmthank God I do not have a first-hand experience, but my brother told me that they heard unusual noises around the house around 2am everyday while my sister-in-law was pregnant. Scary no, but yes, it pays to know how to protect yourself + your baby just in case. Prayers for you + baby Marius. Will take note of these tips to ward off aswangs, will come handy for my next pregnancy! ð

September 24, 2017 at 4:30 amHave not had any first hand experience with as want, but I was told they exist. My mom recounted her experiences encountering an aswang when she was pregnant with me and my sister. The aswang have long tongues- something they would use to suck the life out of unsuspecting expectant moms. Surely we need these weapons: asin, bawang, suka and something to lop off the aswang ‘a tongue.
