It’s been 2 weeks since SY 2015-2016 started and to be honest I just finished covering and labeling their books and notebooks! I don’t what happened but I am too relaxed this past few days. I am not stressing myself that much and I have noticed that with this kind of relaxed attitude, my kids are less stressed too.
But of course, when it comes to their education, we’re not that relaxed naman. To help them achieve more this school year and to boost their Multiple Intelligence, I made a few adjustments on our schedule of activities.
We’re still very strict with their study time. Dati, I usually let them rest and feed them before studying, my first born said, inaantok sya pag ganun. Baka daw pwede study muna and assignment before snacks and milk. Well, it’s their body and that’s one thing I can tell you moms to boost their multiple intelligence, listen to your kids. Take a cue from what they are telling or what they are not telling you.
After study time, I let them play and relaxed but without gadget. They can only use their gadgets on Friday afternoon until Sunday 12 noon. Imposing a no gadget week improves their concentration. TV is off too during study time. To relax, they play outside, improving their body smart intelligence. They also discovered the Marco Polo game!
We’re still working on our reading schedule but slowly, we’re getting there. I always ask them to read for at least 30 minutes a day and we’re building a library na! How can I convince them to read if we don’t have books di ba?
Lastly, knowing what kind of learners they are really helped a lot to prepare them to school and boot their Multiple Intelligence. It is much easier to teach them when I know how they learn. I also bought a few materials to be used when teaching them. For my first born, since he is visual and Kinaesthetic learner, I gave him a few markers for his textbooks. The experience of highlighting important texts and seeing it in bright colors can help him better understood the concepts. As for my 2nd born who is also visual-Kinaesthetic, but a bit different, I bought a white board to help me in teaching him. He learns better kase this way, yung parang classroom setting na the teacher is writing and discussing.
So far, we’re doing good with our academics. And obviously, with these techniques, I am more relaxed and less stressed!
In summary, here are the things that we do to help them achieve more in school and boost their Multiple Intelligence:
- Impose a very strict study time
- Listen to tthe kids
- Limit use of gadget
- Let the kids play outside
- Encourage them to read
- Know what type of learner he/she is
