Cabanatuan City has been our home for like 15+ years. Our clan was from Talavera.. but you know, you gotta move from time to time hehe
15 loong years..my family is living in the city and it was only recently that we discovered the beauty that lies in the city.
First stop. Microtel Inn and Suites.
My mom lives in an apartment in Cabanatuan… and of course, we usually stay with her when we visit. This time was different though, it was my ate’s wedding! And the heat (it happened end of May)..OMG! the heat! I cannot imagined doing my ate’s make up under that kind of heat. So, we decided to stay at Microtel to prevent the heat from damaging my ate’s make up.. of course to have some fun too! Swimming! Swimming!
Cabanatuan maybe a City but you won’t find a lot of hotels with swimming pool.. that’s actually the reason why we chose Microtel, for the pool.
I love our room because it’s big and can accommodate my big family! And Microtel is not strict with the number of kids that can stay with their parents.. plus plus points for Microtel for that!
Another thing that I love about them coffee and water is unlimited! and kids eat for FREE! For breakfast that is, if they would just eat cereals, you don’t have to pay. If kids would eat what is offered in the buffet area, well you have to pay 100+.. Now that’s what I don’t like with Microtel. THE FOOD! I wish they could offer more “probinsya” kind of food. It would have been better if they offer their guests traditional Novo Ecijano food.
Or maybe, one of the reason why they don’t offer authentic Novo Ecijano dishes is because there are already so many food establishments in Cabanatuan City. And most of them are really really good! I always expect that my diet will be ruined whenever we visit this city.
One restaurant that we haven’t tried before and wish we did is Hapag Vicenticos.. as I have mentioned, we have been living in this city for 15 years and it was only this year that we got to try Hapag Vicenticos! syeeet!! sayang ang mga taon!!
And here’s why…
Interiors!!! oh my!! every corner is snap worthy!

Of course the food!
Unfortunately, noong kumain kame, sold out ang Crispy Pata.. I am taking it a sign na DAPAT bumalik kame!! hahaha
O di ba turistang turista ang peg!
O sinong tiga Cabanatuan diyan? May namiss ba ako?
I love the ambiance sa Microtel, specially the restaurant, Hapag Vicentico’s. The feeling of simplicity and the oldness. I think the food is really great. We can’t wait to visit it also. Kahit wala ako kapamilya sa Nueva Ecija I will tell my hubby to go there! 🙂
gow! pero we discovered another hotel/ resort, the pool is waay waaay better!
a great hotel and wonderful historian restaurant perfect venues for a vacation 🙂
true!
I always thought Microtel is small kasi micro, hehe, parang inn or motel. I love that Hapag Vicentico’s may swing, does it really work?
actually small nga sya, compared to hotels, malaki lang rooms nila 🙂
the swing! yes 🙂
My husband always stay in Microtel Baguio if he has business trip there and so far ok naman review niya about sa room and food. Good thing he is still free but next year hindi na. Most of the hotels kasi 6-11 yrs old above my charge (half).
oo nga eh, worry yan ng aking 1st born, paano daw pag nag 11 na sya? kailangan daw ba ibang room na sya? natatakot sya! haha
I don’t get to go home to our province that often, and once I’m home I just want to vegetate inside the house. must be nice rediscovering one’s old hometown like that, and finding gems that are worth coming back to 🙂
it was really nice! Now, we have more than enough reasons to go home (kung kaya nga eh every weekend! haha)
I like Microtel Cabanatuan, but the pool’s so small! When we went there last summer, it was packed. 🙁 Acropolis pa rin is better.
Speaking of restaurants, try my husband’s tita’s resto there! Ningbo. Haha!
Pool wise, nothing beats Acropolis, banyo and room wise, Microtel!
very throwback yung interiors! you’ll never know the beauty of your hometown unless you explore it talaga.
kurek!
Wow. What an amazing experience! It feels great to be a turista in your own place once in a while noh? Maybe we could also do a staycation with the family in the future. Hehe.
true! hahaha feeling maarte lang staying in hotel and dining at restaurants haha
Nakakatuwa ang mga moment mo mommy pehpot 🙂 I envy people like you who have provinces to go back to and visit once in a while or if you want to go away from the city. I was born in QC and has been here all my life 🙂
medyo sad yan ha hehe but at least you can declare any province your home province, marami kang choices!
Ganda naman dyan sis. Gusto ko mag Travel dyan even if just to eat and relax.
masarap mag food trip sis 🙂
Loving the interiors of the restaurant! Looks like you had an awesome mini-photoshoot 🙂
It’s a nice place to take photos ah! 🙂
kurek! and to think na gabi na yan ha.. what more kung umaga!
Ang sarap naman ng food…Funny din ano, we get to visit other places, but minsan na
o-overlook natin yung sariling province natin, I am like that din about my province..
hehehhe …
I like Microtel also. I’ve stayed at their hotel in Manila and Boracay. Agree, though, that their food is meh. I remember that in Boracay, they served pinakbet for breakfast. Nyerks, no thanks. Ang pretty ng restaurant! I wanna check out Cabanatuan tuloy. I’ve never been there.
pinakbet for breakfast??? OMG! hahahaha I can’t imagine eating pinakbet sa umaga!
Diba ang weird??? Di ko parin nage-get over yun, ilan years na ang nakalipas hahaha.
Never been to Cabanatuan, but if I ever do go there at least I now know of one good place to eat at, thanks to your post! ^_^ The shrimp and squid look really delish and I’m a sucker for seafood. Yum!
it really is!
I’ve always wanted to try a Microtel hotel! 1998 pa ako huli nakapunta ng Cabanatuan.
waaah ang tagal naaaa!! it’s about time na bumalik ka ng Cabanatuan! haha
I have never been there. I visited some provinces along but it wasn’t one of them. Hehe. =)
well, kung beaches ang gusto mo, wala sa Cabanatuan haha mostly food trip lang ang meron and some nice resorts 🙂
I’ve tried Microtel only once before, in their branch in Cavite, when I organized a golf tournament for the company I was working for. Like your room, ours was pretty big too and I remember liking it for it’s simplicity. I can’t comment on their food though coz we didn’t eat there. Nice to know that you’re finally getting to explore your hometown. Happy exploring!
We stayed at Microtel when we were at Boracay some 4 years ago, and I love the rooms. I haven’t been to Nueva Ecija (nadadaanan lang when going up north). Might try to visit this place soon.
So, now I know where ako mag-stay paguwi ko… Thanks Pehpot 😀
