CC: around 30+ bloggers (some will reply and you will see their reply because it’s a CC..carbon copy!)
Dear Blogger,
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!
Attached is the press release of our recent event (which you were not invited) and we want you to post it in your blog as soon as possible. Share your posts to social media sites and have at least 5 real people comment on it.
Thank you.
From,
PR Agency
that’s not an actual email.. maybe a bit exaggerated…but yes some PR Agencies would email bloggers with a tone like that. I am not expert into PR thingy and email etiquette so this post is more on how I feel and how I wish PR Agencies would email me. First things first: NOT ALL PR AGENCIES are like that.. I can mention a few agencies that are super duper nice! There are just few that does not even know the difference of BCC and CC.
CC is fine, specially if it is a memo from a company.. but we bloggers are not under one company. So please try using BCC instead.. personally, I would prefer if you won’t BCC me, I would love to read an email specially for me, even if it is a template email.
PERSONAL. It means addressing me to my name.. not to HI BLOGGER.. HEY BLOGGER. I have a name and I think it is in my blog (displayed on my sidebar and also in my contact page).. I heard a lot of bloggers being offended when a certain email does not address them properly. Professional tone may apply to other bloggers but I tell you, when it comes to mommy bloggers, dapat medyo pa close ang tono.
Please take time to know the blogger’s name and address them properly.. minsan mas OK pa na nagkamali ng pag address sa akin (tipong Hello Mommy Levy>> pero para sa akin ung email) kesa ung hello blogger lang.. obviously nag effort.. hindi nga lang enough LOL
Oh my your kid is so adorable! >>> kahit sinong nanay na makabasa nyan, siguradon matutuwa..so what I am telling? Aside from knowing the blogger’s name, take time to read their recent post, kahit ung nasa homepage lang.. kahit pahapyaw lang and mention it on your email. Big deal yan, kase it means you’re reading the blog and doing your assignment. You can try that approach next time you want to ask a favor from a blogger.
Lastly, when you email a blogger asking for a favor, do not demand.. wag ganun.. not unless paid yan, eh demand all you want.
Baka naman isipin nyo, ang suplada kong blogger.. hindi po no. If I am friends with the PR Agency, I post their Press Release without questions.. walang kyeme (basta may oras ako).. at hindi lang sa isang blog ko, sa lahat ng pwede.
So if it is your first time to email me (or other bloggers, specially mommy bloggers) remember this post and see for yourself how the bloggers will react (at parang awa nyo na, wag CC!)
Now, a question for bloggers: How do you react when a PR Agency emails you asking to post something? 🙂

September 24, 2013 at 11:20 amLove na love ko rin yung mga PR nagsasabi ng good things about our kids. It also means na they are trying to know us and reads our background.

Mommy Pehpot says
September 25, 2013 at 11:41 ameh kase naman! hahaha pero true di ba, nakaka warm ng heart if you know na kahit pano nag effort si PR na alamin ang pangalan mo 🙂

September 25, 2013 at 6:29 pmNothings for free, pero minsan nadadaan din ako sa niceness…Pag super nice sa akin yung nag-ask, minsan nag-post ako ng PR for free.

September 25, 2013 at 8:49 pmAgree! It helps if the PR agency also “gets to know” the bloggers they are reaching out to. Para also they can be sure that they are reaching out to a market that is relevant to them. 🙂
Mommy Pehpot says
September 26, 2013 at 12:18 amthat’s a good point Patty 🙂 advantage talaga sa PR agencies if they know the bloggers 🙂

September 25, 2013 at 11:50 pmI like it when PR people go the extra mile and ask me how the kids are or talk about what I recently posted on my blog. At least I know I’m not just a mommy blogger they found on the web.
Mommy Pehpot says
September 26, 2013 at 12:36 amexactly! sabihin man nilang feeling special.. hehano ngayon! eh special talaga tayo di ba 🙂

September 27, 2013 at 7:20 amSo far the PR companies, I’ve worked with all address me by my first name. If I’d get emails like this I won’t post anything about that event and my blog is experienced base so I rare use press release too.
Genzel says
September 27, 2013 at 7:39 amTotally agree with this! I’ve received some emails like this before and it’s not really appealing to bloggers or to me at least. We work hard for what we are doing.
Working MAMA says
September 27, 2013 at 8:36 amthat’s the reason why sometimes I didn’t post the PR they send.. 🙂

September 27, 2013 at 9:05 amI think our Filipino values of showing respect and generosity have somehow contributed to our skills in email marketing, pondong puhunan kumbaga. Delivering your message in a more kind manner could not only help you acquire visitors to your website but also gain trust and authority.

September 28, 2013 at 9:54 amHonestly, I haven’t paid much attention to those emails. I know I should, but right now I don’t have a lot of time to tinker with the ins and outs of my online life.

September 28, 2013 at 12:10 pmIf ever makareceive ako ng ganyang request sa PR agency hindi ako mageefort na ipost ang ang kanilang press release kasi hindi man lang mag effort na iaddress yung blogger by their name. Free posting na nga demanding pa.
Yamito Uytingco Calamba says
September 28, 2013 at 8:58 pmWell, you’re NOT alone. I get this kind of email from other PR firms all the time. There’s one specific but i wont mention nalang. Sometimes i post my own version of the press release (since I NEVER COPY PASTE THE WHOLE PR) for free but only if i find it beneficial for my blog too, and as a favor for a friend. But in times when i feel like im not treated with respect by some PR firms, it is for sure HINDING HINDI NA SILA MAKAKAULIT! 🙂
Tetcha Figuerres says
September 30, 2013 at 8:59 pmIf the PR people are super nice and super lambing (and I have somebody in mind right now), I really accommodate their requests, but I have also experienced PR people who keep calling me different names, and that’s a real turn-off!
Mommy Pehpot says
September 30, 2013 at 9:06 pmI think I know the PR you are referring to.. indeed she is super lambing and most of the times, I post her press release in all my blogs..and for free! That’s what you call relationship building di ba 🙂

October 3, 2013 at 9:47 pmHayy! Gosh, kakawalang gana. Hahaha.

November 3, 2014 at 11:17 pmI super agree with all your points. Contacting bloggers used to be my work for an American company, Before I write to any prospective blogger, I would read about 5-6 of her blog posts. I was to address her properly, mention her blog and any detail of her blog and request, not demand, her to write a blog post about us. For that we would give her a beautiful product of good value. PR companies here still have a lot to learn. It’s funny because I’ve been receiving emails like this telling me to spread the word, but I never responded nor posted anything they emailed me about. Finally, I just asked them to remove me from their email list. Ayun, hindi na ako nakakatanggap ngayon.
