I always say that the most obvious proof that the kids are growing is the increase in the amount of dirty clothes..kase when you’re a mom, sometimes you worry that you’re kids are not growing up fast. Take a look at your laundry or notice how it was before and how it was now, you’ll see how big your kids had grown up. In my case, the usual 2-3 hours doing the laundry had increased to 4-6 hours (bed sheets, towels and the likes not included), but you know the best thing about the kids growing up in relation to doing the laundry, I got me little helpers!
My typical wash day starts with sorting out the clothes. You know, that’s the basic fabric care tip I can share. Wash clothes according to color and size. Ayan, may naalala tuloy ako.. back then, when I do the laundry, sorting the clothes is just about light colored clothes, dark colored clothes, pants and kids clothes. Now, light colored clothes are sorted again, same with the dark colored clothes and so on.. kung baga sa multiple choice, mas marami ng choices ngayon!
The importance of sorting clothes before washing is to ensure that no discoloration will happen. Also, washing clothes according to size and type of fabric ensures that the fabric will not be stressed out during washing. Different kind of fabrics need different kinds of wash setting (for washing machine).
So here’s how my sorting is done:
Dirty clothes are first sorted out into categories: White clothes (adult clothes + kids school uniform), White clothes (kids), Colored clothes, pants, brassieres (for hand washing).
White clothes are then sorted out according to size and kind of fabrics: Kids uniform, all white adult clothes and semi white or white clothes with print.
Kid white clothes is also sorted out: Sando, underwear and socks.
Colored clothes are sorted out according to color, and for a family as big as much, yes we have a rainbow colored laundry! Just kidding, my colored clothes laundry is usually about green, red, blue and dark. Yellow goes with green group, Pink goes with red, brown and black goes with the dark group. Kampi-kampi haha
Hindi pa tapos yan.. because the dark colored group will be sorted again according to size: small sized and bigger ones (mga pangbata at pang matanda). The the pants which again will be sorted out according to size and sometimes according to shade.
Sorting out pa lang, nakakangarag na at time consuming! Eh wala naman ako magagawa di ba, if I will not sort out our dirty clothes, we might end up having rainbow themed clothes!
Now comes the real deal, the star of the night, the main dish! err.. I mean the main job, the actual washing of clothes. If sorting out takes an hour to complete, the actual washing is 3-5 hours (hindi pa kasama ang sampayan diyan ha at ang tiklupan! ay at ang plantsahan!). I try to be as organized as possible when I do my laundry, after sorting the clothes, I start washing the white clothes first. Wash and then rinse, some by hands, some through the washing machine. Then fabric conditioner and the cycle goes on until the last piece is done. And then hanging it to dry. The next day is for folding the clothes and ironing those that needs to be ironed (usually half of the clothes I washed).
the leaning tower of dirty clothes hahaha
Saturday is my laundry day and with the amount of time I spent doing it, madalas, our lunch is sacrificed. I don’t have the time to cook when I am doing the laundry. We usually end up buying our lunch or whatever is available in the pantry. And I know aside from our lunch, the time I spent with the kids are also sacrificed.. medyo malungkot yan mga mother.. having four kids, I really need to make sure that I have time to spent for each of them..and this laundry thingy is making it hard! (ahuhuhuhu)

Ever since we transferred to our new place, I’ve been doing our laundry BY HAND. OMG imagine my frustration. If time consuming na mag sort, dagdag oras pa sa akin yung paglalaba ko. What’s worse is since wala kaming dryer, ang hirap magpatuyo ng clothes dahil maulan na ngayon. Buti si hubby willing mag iron!
This Electrolux Time Manager front load washing machine is perfect for us stay at home moms talaga!

July 28, 2013 at 8:09 amI do the same when doing laundry Mare, I do colored (Rodney’s) the colored (kids) or Roan’s and mine (colored) then whites would all be together. for me size matters kasi,a nd I like the fact that after I take them out of the dryer, when I fold them, I only have at least 2 piles or 1 pile of clothes for a certain person 🙂
Electrolux washing machine seems to be a great washer, especially for a mom like you who is busy with young ones.

July 28, 2013 at 4:34 pmSa lahat ng gawaing-bahay, ang PAGLALABA ang KERI KO. I mean, I can clean the house but I hate the dusts (kasi po, allergic ako sa kanila, may acute sinusitis ako, kaya I hate them so much), I do not know how to cook (its really a bother to me). The only thing I am good at is doing the laundry. My mom taught me well, that is something like you do, ihiwalay ang de-kolor sa puti, unahin labhan ang puti, ihiwalay ang mga undergarments at mga medyas, ihiwalay ang cotton sa jeans, at iba pa. Dati-rati I hate to do the laundry simply because my nails get brittle tsaka nawawala agad ang nail polish ko 😀 pero kung meron nang washing machine, aba mas madali na ang buhay.

July 29, 2013 at 8:38 amEven if I have a helper at home who hand-wash some of our clothes, we also send some of our clothes plus bed sheets and towels to the laundry shop downstairs. This is not practical, I know, and the best solution to this problem is to buy an Electrolux Time Manager Front Load Washing Machine. This will definitely give us a lot of savings.

July 29, 2013 at 9:58 amWashing clothes is very tough chores at home and time consuming at exert all your energy, from sorting out and kusot at pagkatabos banlawan and sampay after you finish this chore your in no mood to do the other chores at home at i can relate to you no more kids bonding all you want is just sit back and relax after pa nyan kapag umulan karami rami mo sampay na isisilung but in Electrolux Time Manager no more worries (Hakana Matata) its expensive but all is worth when it comes to time management, energy efficiency, and detergent was less kaya budget friendly kasi less water at less electricity consume at tipid pa sa detergent. Mothers like us really need this. Im very convince about this new Electrolux Time Manager Front load Washing Machine..

July 29, 2013 at 12:00 pmnakakatuwa naman ung leaning towers of labahin mo sis! hehehe
anyways, mahirap tlgang maglaba, i remember my lola using palo-palo pa para maglaba #thosewerethedays I’ve tried it too and bonggang muscle sa right arm pagnagkataon! Then here comes top load, tama ka, magastos sa tubig, kuryente at sabon parin ito and not efficient enough so kahit inikot na ng matagal at its maximum, need parin ng konting kusot before letting it drop to the first rinsing tub. Use to rinse our clothes with 4-5 tubs but we lessen it to 3 nalang. Still, not good parin.
Im all for saving the environment, and I think this latest innovation of a washing machine is definitely worth it, kaso wala pa sa budget.
thank you much sa chance sa giveaway. hehe *crossing me fingers! <3

July 29, 2013 at 2:02 pmIt’s because of your reasons kaya naghahandwash ako, except for Jeans/Slacks/Office attires.
Pag handwash kasi mas madali for me kasi tipid sa kuryente (dahil manual) at tubig (soap the baby clothes, then the whites, then the coloreds) tsaka banlaw ulit in the same pattern. Not advisable in your case lalo na with 4 kids, kami kasi 3 lang in the house.
We just need to be smart when and how we do the laundry to maximize our savings (like your ritual in separating your fabrics and colors).
We’ll see if maconvince ang taga-“finance” ko hahaha
Btw, I so applaud you for your system. Just thinking about your laundry chore is so daunting but am so impressed with how you go about it. Sana nga you get this washing machine na para naman more time with your family talaga. You truly deserve one! 😀
Thanks for a very informative post.

I do most of my thinking while doing the laundry. I love doing it, pero pag ganyan na kadami, wish ko lang may Eloctrolux din ako! Para less time sa laba, more time for the kiddos!

July 29, 2013 at 11:28 pmOh my! Now I wish to have an Electrolux frontload washing machine!!
You know as a mom, I really find ways to stretch my budget and save on things like water, electricity and other stuff. Mind you, I do the laundry every Friday and Saturday (sometimes until Sunday) and from 9PM onward only, thinking that it is helping me save energy and money as per MERALCO’s tip to its consumers.
However, looking at the comparison of a frontload and a topload, I think I don’t have to stay awake at night just to do the laundry. Having an Electrolux washing machine is the answer. It saves money, water and energy. Plus, gentle to clothes, less noisy and most of all, affordable.

August 4, 2013 at 3:08 pmHonestly, I don’t know how to do the laundry. We live with my family and my mom takes care of washing everyone’s clothes. She is very OC about the laundry kasi and refuses for anyone else to touch her washing machine. Haha!
Because ang dami namin sa house, we need a washing machine that is efficient – efficient maglaba, efficient sa electricity, water and detergent. As in everything that you said about the Electrolux Time Manager Front Load Washing Machine would be absolutely perfect for our household. It would make a perfect gift to my mom too, who lovingly makes sure that our newly-washed clothes are clean and smell good. 🙂

August 6, 2013 at 10:03 amI think the ELECTROLUX Time Manager front load washing machine can be considered as an “ALL-IN-ONE washing machine” and if I have that here in our home, I can say “I couldn’t ask for more anymore”.
Being a home eka-NANAY is HARD. It’s harder when you don’t have househelpers in the house. Imagine yourself in a third world war without a GUN when you don’t have the right appliances in your household. I used to laba all the clothes using my hands 25 years ago because buying a washing machine back then was a NO-NO simply because we couldn’t afford it. But now, though there are washing machines that are KAYA ng BULSA but will not last that long, I still prefer to BUY WASHING MACHINES that has better QUALITY and offers a lot of great features such as the Electrolux has recently discovered. My kids and my grandchildren are so maarte when it comes to their clothes, kaya nasasabihan ko palagi ang labandera, minsan ako na talaga ang gumagawa kasi kahit ilang beses turoan, di pa rin ma gets.
