I actually had a hard time thinking what I should title this post.. I dreamed a dream.. or One Day More.. but since it is one day more before it shows on SM Cinemas, let’s just use ONE DAY MORE..
perro apt din ang I dreamed a dream.. because it really is a dream, I dreamed..
Les Miserables is one of my favorite musical.. and it is my ultimate dream to watch this musical on London (with Ramin Karimloo as Valjean- crushing on him since I saw 25th Anniversary concert hihi). When news came out that Hugh Jackman will be playing Valjean for the movie adaptation of Les Miserables, I was ecstatic (crush ko din si Hugh Jackman no hihihi).. and comes Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried, now that makes it the MUST WATCH movie.
Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman as Valjean is the next best thing to Ramin Karimloo being Valjean (hehe).. and when I was invited to the advance screening, I almost screamed! And knowing I’d shed some tears, I opted to keep my make up low (hahaha).
I will not post any spoiler, all I can say is, there is a reason why Les Miserables won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy and there is a REASON why Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Her I dreamed a dream rendition is superb! Nakakakilabot promise!
The best part of the film (well for me) is, of course, my favorite part/ song, Do you hear the people sing. I am blown away by the scene, never did I imagined that it will be depicted that way.. I’m speechless! And I am so glad how the song was used in the film… I really believe that Do you hear the people sing is what makes Les Miserables (not On my own nor One Day More).
Did you know that the film was live? In a way that the singing was not pre corded and though they did not used Dunlop mic stand like it was in most musical, each actors have a hidden mic somewhere and an earpiece where the piano keys were supplied. AS I have heard it, actors commented on how the technique was easier since they can concentrate more on acting rather than on being more concerned on lip sync.
I have to watch it again! Mamu, let’s watch it together! Let’s have a mala Ondoy moment at the cinema.. pleaseeeeeeee
