Hmm.. where do I start this entry?
I.CAN’T.WALK.
Well, I can walk but my whole body’s aching! Going upstairs is another thing.. Uh Oh.. I had this kind of “I can’t walk state” when I first tried Metafit. That’s just a 4 minute work out but coming from a sedentary lifestyle, my muscles was like WHOA! WHAT WAS THAT?!? Doing Metafit from time to time, I thought I would be spared from aches after CrossFit.. and I was wrong.
What is CrossFit? (from CrossFit Manila)
Crossfit is elite fitness for everyone at – from couch potatoes to seasoned athletes. It is a program that was originally developed by legendary coach Greg Glassman after his many years of watching, working with, and coaching all types of people.
CrossFit workouts are constantly varied movements executed at high intensity, thus every workout is different and you will rarely do the same thing twice. The workouts themselves are completely scalable, which means that a new participant and an elite athlete can complete the same workout with changes in load and intensity. CrossFit workouts will deliver phenomenal fitness in and of themselves or as a compliment to your sport-specific training regime.
Basically, CrossFit is not your ordinary workout, but it is for ordinary people looking for extraordinary results.
Indeed it was not our ordinary workout! What we had was WOD or work out of the day which is 7 Wall Balls, 7 Push ups, 7 Box Jumps and 7 Burpees. Sounds easy eh? haha yes, if you will do it just once..but if you have to do it for 10 minutes, that’s another thing!
Wall Balls is holding a 3 kg ball (heavier for the boys and fort he seasoned ones) and throwing it on the wall, while doing push up.
Push Ups, you know that already 🙂
Box Jumps is jumping in and out of the box, the push coming from within.. it was hard for me so we just step in and out 🙁
Burpees, you can find a how to at C-lium website
Here we are after the work out.. sweaty but pretty! hahaha it hadn’t kicked in.. yet!
After the work out, we had a sumptuous lunch (na located sa 2nd floor! aray kupo!) and Nutritionists Nadine Tengco and Pinoy Biggest Loser finalists Art and Angela gave us us some tips and advice on losing weight.
Miss Nadine taught us the proper way to lose weight and eating less is not one of it. She was also kind enough to discuss to us the science behind our body in terms of eating. The most important thing that I have learned from her is the most efefctive way to lose weight is to INCREASE METABOLISM, and it can happen if you eat right.
Eating right means eating every 3-4 hours a day with protein, carbs and fiber on the plate. She also mentioned that our plate should always consist of 1/2 veggies, 1/4 protein and 1/4 carbo. The science behind it is eating every 3-4 hours makes our glucos level stable…making our body function at its most optimal state.
She also shared with us the essential rules in weight loss:
- Frequency, as mentioned above eat every 3-4 hours every day.
- Quality, food that you should eat: Nutrient Dense (more nutrients and less calories), Volume Metric (more water and more fiber) and Whole foods (fresh, raw and unprocessed)
- Quantity: 1000-1200 kcal consumption per day
With this guideline + CrossFit and of course C-lium fiber, I think I can have my desire weight in no time!
