My love for vegetables is limited to Okra, Sigarilyas, Tomato (debatable I know..), Onion, Garlic, Eggplant and a few green leafy ones. I never like carrots or bell pepper.. but that’s a secret, I have to show a brave face to my kids every time we have chopsuey (ugh!) but we moms are great on pretending.
And as you know, my vegetable garden is all about the vegetables I love. I can’t wait for the day that they start bearing.. ahhh that would be an aaaaaaaaaah time.. hihi
So imagine my surprise when one morning, I saw my Okra starting to bear flowers! I was like, or almost, jumping for joy. Immediately got the camera and took some photos:
Ca you spot it? Oh by the way, I already transferred some of our veggies to our mini garden outside, specially the okra. They already need a bigger space.. but still hadn’t bought a bigger pots, I end up digging the front garden and cultivating it to make way for the okra, tomato and sigarilyas and some sili too. I think I lost more than 1000 calories doing that! hahaha
I know for some people, okra is not a favorite. What does Okra taste like? I cannot explain, but yes it is very slimy.. but it has some sweetness on it, and really goes well with calamansi and bagoong! yum yum
The Chinese Kangkong is growing too and might need to be transferred to a bigger pot (Divisoria here we come!).. as well as the eggplant and some of the sili left on the small pots. I am thinking of buying more Kangkong seed.. this proves to be the most useful veggies of all! We have sinigang every weekend and my mom always adds the kangkong we had on the garden… reason why the kangkong on the picture is kalbo 🙂
Next update will be about the pots.. and where to buy them and how much each one will cost me..well after I am done reading about fixed immediate annuities and other tax forms 🙂
And oh, I am planning to start an herb garden, so watch out for that too!
