Can you guess what’s inside my brown paper bag?
In relation to Pasig City ordinance against the use of plastics, establishments here in Pasig are now gearing towards the use of brown paper bag instead.. and you wouldn’t believe that even my favorite thrift store is also using brown paper bag.
Super 8 grocery at Ortigas Avenue Extension is now using Brown Paper bag as well as Ever Gotesco.. I still have to try shopping at their department store and see for myself.
As for the content of my brown paper bag, take a look here.

January 19, 2012 at 12:19 pmHi Peh! That’s great, using brown bag in replace of plastic bags used in groceries. I just hope those brown bags came from recycled materials. If not, how many trees were cut just to produce such kind of packaring materials.
In addition, I think our Alma Mater, CLSU, has already issued almost same ordinance as Pasg City two or three years ago for the entire university. Stalls at the “Old Market” stopped the use of plastic bags. Even Aling Ipay’s carinderia. Students bring their own “baunan” to buy foods from the said carinderia while other wrapped vegetables and other purchases in old newspapers. I don’t have any updates if they are still implementing the said ordinance. I just hope so…

January 21, 2012 at 9:56 pmThat’s great. Better than plastic.
However, don’t they chop down trees to make paper bags? Hmmm…
Best to use those “eco” bags that you can buy and take with you.

January 22, 2012 at 12:29 pmyup I know that’s why we only use reusable bags when shopping..but to know that most of the stores I visited are now into brown paper bag instead of plastic bags is worth mentioning 🙂 but of course I still wish people will be more aware and use reusable bags instead of relying to brown paper bags 🙂
