It was a very humbling experience.. and I realized how lucky I am to be a working at home.. just when I thought I don’t have a Christmas bonus or 13th month pay, I realized, I have the whole year to celebrate.
I was on my way home from an important meeting somewhere in Macapagal Blvd.. the best route was to take MRT and alight at Ortigas Extension.. it was only 4 in the afternoon and the MRT stairs were already swamped with people who has the same agenda as mine, go home as early as possible. The line was still moving but I cannot help but think, what if there was a commotion, I could die just being there… imagiine hundred of people walking slowly like a caterpillar.. it will only take one scream of fire and were all doomed. From the stairs of MRT Taft station to the ticket booth took about 10 minutes but it seems an hour to me.. buying my mrt card is another battle and this shameless woman even had the guts to cut in line! argh!
mrt from taft station
From Taft Station to Ortigas Station, I was standing.. good thing that I was able to ride the mrt from the first station, I was able to secure a standing place where alighting would be easier.. and without the need to shout to the eager passengers who force themselves inside the couch (even if some are wearing fishnet tops). It was still early I guess.. rush hour has just started. I end up strolling around Robinson’s Galleria to buy pasalubong for the kids.. and I was out for a ride by 5:30.. the worst time of rush hour.. and since I cannot brave G Liner with 2 bentos on my hand, I decided to try the FX. The line was short but it took an hour before an FX arrived!!! that’s an hour of standing.. geesh! Then I remember this was the same place where my husband used to wait for a ride.. and he endured it.. no wonder he was so tired coming from the office.. and then I realized how lucky I am..for not having to endure it everyday of my working life.. and how lucky I am to have a husband like him..
Working at home, I don’t have to wake up early to beat the morning rush.. I can work on my PJs, even without combing my hair (but most of the times I love working fully made up.. OK that’s just me).. I can have my snack, lunch, snack any time of the day..and yes..traffic is not on my worry list…
I was home by 7 PM and when my little girl saw me, she cried her heart out: ” Miss Miss Mommy!!! Dede (feeding) Time Mommy!!! waaaaaaah” and my boys.. ohh they showered me with hugs and kisses..
and that’s the best part for me.. working at home, earning and getting my paykissescheck every minute of the day.. I love you’s and mommy you’re pretty are my bonuses!

November 17, 2011 at 7:17 amI love this post, pehpot! you couldn’t have said any better. i began to appreciate my husband and his work more since I became a stay at home mom. Especially when he got sick and yet he didn’t take a sick leave because he didn’t want to miss the training session for that day. we are indeed so lucky to be spending so much time with our kiddos! thanks for reminding me that.

November 17, 2011 at 8:47 amMy gosh, Pehpot, you almost made me cry. I’ve been working since Day 1 of my married life and one thing I regret of being a working mom is spending so much time in the office with little time left to cuddle my babies.
kaya lagi kong sinasabi, pangarap kong maging work at home din.

November 17, 2011 at 11:01 amTruelalu. Working at home has a lot of advantage and the one thing I love most about it (aside from my own working hours) is that I don’t need to go out for work when it’s raining out. :))
