Really.. it’s not as easy at it seems to be.. it’s even harder than I thought.. Oh, let me make it clear.. When I decided being green I know I will have to face a lot of problems, and the one I considered to be my greatest hindrance would be my laziness. Yep, my laziness to bring my own bag. Indeed for the first few weeks, I was lazy to bring my own bag.. as the weeks pass, it has become a habit. So we usually bring eco bag on grocery, on malls, on buying bushnell legend, on buying toys, almost every where.
When we buy produce at Farmer’s Market, we also use our own bags. When it comes to wet goods and meat, we have no choice but to use plastic bags. And that’s what I thought.. it dawned to me that in every meat part we bought, we are actually using not just one plastic but 2. The butcher usually put the meat in two plastics.. OUCH! So I made a very bold decision.. I will have to stop using plastic even on my wet goods.. on meats, on sea foods.. From then on, we bring wares to serve as container for the meat and other wet goods.
We’re still not 100% plastic free as I am still thinking of way to buy rice without having to depend on plastic bags.. Maybe I should invest on sacks.
I thought my dilemma will end with self discipline but it does not. In fact the battle has just started. The thing is.. saying no to plastic gives me a lot of trouble.. Not all malls/ establishment that I went to understands me, specially when I told them that I don’t use plastics. The worst I experienced was, I was escorted from the cashier to the main entrance. How discriminating that can be???? I feel a bit ashamed of being escorted but I know I am doing a worthy cause. It actually happened on the same store twice. My initial reaction is.. I WILL BLOG ABOUT IT!!! I was so mad hahaha and then I thought of boycotting the store.. Then I realized, what it would do good? nothing.. but rage.. I thought buying in that supermarket and making a point that I do not use plastic might actually influence others to stop using plastic too. The crew/ employee on the store might be even curious. So yes, I am still buying in that store and still being escorted.

In my experience, sa bawat binili ko let’s say for example: kamatis (plastic), sibuyas(plastic), chicken meat (plastic). That’s why when I get home, ang daming plastic.
Guess, it will take a while to inform and educate them about plastic usage.
