I got this from Baby-center and also sharing my thoughts on it
Starting too soon
It’s just like anything else. There is a proper age and time for it. Remember when you start feeding your baby? One of the sign is that they can be propped into sitting position. Our body is done that way. If it is too soon, it will just fail. Usually potty training starts at 2 years or older.
Starting at the wrong time
Wrong time like when there is extra pressure for the toddler. Take for example, you are starting his training when you are actually expecting a baby soon or you are about to work again in the office. The stress level of the child heightens making it more difficult to potty train them.
Punishing your kid
It’s a no no in potty training. Your toddler is still a baby and he doe snot grasp the main idea of it all. If it miss, don’t get mad. Just remind him. Consistency is the key here and of course patience.

September 15, 2011 at 1:50 amThank God I am done with potty training! boys are a lot harder to potty train than girls, at least for me. I believe not forcing the child to go potty until they are absolutely readym otherwise no matter how much you try, they won’t be successful..
Lucas refused to sit while peeing, and tried to do it standing up immediately, problem was he couldn’t aim yet, spraying his pee all over the bathroom, it was a nightmare, and don’t let me get started with “accidents”, so glad to be done with it! 😛
Chakai was much easier to train, I just showed her how to do it and within a week, she was doing it like a pro and she was barely 2 years old then.. 😛
