Host: Another episode of the hottest show in town: Blogging Today. Now our guest for today is non other than the girl behind the biggest contest this year (where you can win $200, if you will join, tell her you heard it from pehpot)
Known on the blogniverse as the author of Home Buddies and gf to Mike, let’s all welcome Fedhz!!
Hi Fedhz! This is quite difficult to me as I know you and pehpot had been friends for a time now. I really don’t know how to make this show as lively as you too talk over IM and even on cellphone. I guess I just have to be straight to the point.
As for our topic, Caesarean Delivery, when did you know you will be “under the knife”?
Fedhz: My first 7 months of prenatal I was with a different Obstetrician. Her clinic was like a Maternity Hospital, and she insists on giving Normal birth there, until the last minute that you ever need to be done CS.
When we changed doctors, I asked the new one if I can deliver the baby normally. This was my 8th month, and she said, we can try, but since I have excessive discharge and having problems
with bacteria, it’s not safe to deliver the baby normally as bacteria can infect the baby.
She also checked my pelvic bones and said, the outlet is not that big. In other terms, I can only make baby but I cannot push it out.
Host: So it seems that your Obstetrician gave you no option..
Fedhz: Well, it seems like that, due to m infection it was not advisable to my baby to pass though my vagina. When they opened my tummy and was about to pull Yzabella out, they realized that her umbilical cord was abnormal. It was short. It’s a good thing that I’ve undergone CS delivery, normal delivery was n0t really possible due toYzabellas’s short umbilical cord. That’s also the reason why she’s not coming down from my belly. She got stuck up there. March 30th, my old OB said that I should stop walking and walking already (so I quit my job), since the baby was going down already. But she got stuck in that position, (maybe because of the short umbilical cord). It was just half of the usual umbilical cord length..
Host: This is the first time I heard a case like this, so how was the procedure? Is it painful? or is it really painless? Are just half numb then?
Fedhz: I knew the procedure from my sister and from the videos I’ve watched in Youtube. Damn. I was like shivering to death. I was led to the Recovery room to wait for my turn. I was cold because you know, you’re only wearing hospital gown. So when they called me up and brought me to the delivery room, I asked for extra blanket for some warmth and to cover my butt too.
Before I laid down I was already feeling hazy because of the depressant they injected. I wanted to ask the nurses/interns what would happen. But they’re busy chit chatting
while carelessly shaving the hair from my tummy down to my…. good thing it did not went down, down or else..
And then the anesthesiologist came and introduced himself. He explained that he’ll give the epidural, and that I should be half awake. I will not feel my lower limbs from my tummy down. He asked me to curl, like how shrimps are while I was lying down. When he injected the thing on my back, my body moved forward, away from the injection. I don’t want it. It’s not painful, but imagine having something poked in your spine! It took them a long while before they were able to give me the whole shot.
And that’s because my Obstetrician came in. (yeah, she’s late). When I heard her voice,(dannyfe, you’re okay.. it’s okay).. that’s the only time I relaxed. wahaha!
After a few minutes, the anesthesiologist asked me to move my right leg. damn. I can’t. It’s very frustrating. and that’s the last thing I remember. (and there’s a curtain between my chest and my tummy).
I was awakened by voices saying, “here’s your baby. Look.” They placed the baby on the left side of my head.. and then I thought.. “shet, bat lalaki? kamukha ni Perry!” and then I dozed off.
Host: Ok now before a World War 3 starts here in our show, why don’t we all relax to the tune of Taiyou No Uta
Host: That was a lovely performance Fedhz..
Fedhz: Thanks! (wonders why pehpot did not told her about it)
Host: So tell me, after the anesthesia died down, how as it?
Fedhz: When I woke up, I realized, 2 hours had passed. A man came in and said, he would bring me up to my room. I was already in pain. I cannot explain how excruciating it was. I dunno if it’s the “drugs”, but Mike said I was cursing everyone.. I don’t remember how painful it was, but imagine I have no tolerance for pain..(maybe okay a little) and the ob had to change my pain killers to the strongest one. I cannot move left to right and vice versa (which you should do), until the next day. My body is weak, since you cannot eat nor drink after the surgery for sometime. You have to fart first before they let you eat. LOL
Host: I can just imagine how painful it was and like you I have a low tolerance hen it comes to pain. How did you manage to take care of the scar and how were you able to take care of your baby while managing the pain?
Fedhz: I had the bikini cut and the doctor said it will take a while before it heals than the vertical one.Mike’s mom was here for 7 days so she’s the one taking care of Yz and cleaning my wound. But when she took off, I had to clean it by myself. And yeah, it was hard to walk and stand up, so imagine how hard it is to carry the baby around.
Every night I groan because of the pain. The “MIL” massaged my back and my legs.
But the pain is still there. We took turns taking care of the baby – she in the morning, and me at night. The ob said I can walk but as much as possible refrain from walking up and down the stairs. We clean the wound using agua oxinada and betadine, treated it like a normal wound..
and then covered w/ gauze. I always keep it dry so I take a bath covering the area. After 3-4 weeks it has dry up and I was able to take a normal bath again.
Host: If given a chance or if you have a choice, would you undergo another Caesarean Delivery?
Fedhz: No! Not in a million years! I can still feel some pain until now. I’m scarred for life. I cannot jump,I cannot sneeze and cough so hard. I can’t carry Yz all the time. You shouldn’t carry heavy things. And I think there’s a specific exercise for CS patients. hehehe.
Host: Well that’s really hard but maybe with the help of those exercise you will able to jump again.
Although I hate to end this show, we have to follow orders from pehpot. I hope you enjoyed Fedhz’ Caesarean Delivery experience and please join us again next week for another exciting episode of Blogging Today.
