I grew up loving Taho or Soya Milk (am I right?). It’s the best way to beat growling stomach. The warm (or hot) soya with caramelized sugar and tiny sago, who could ever forget?
I remember back in college when I had no time to eat breakfast, a hot taho could to the trick to keep my body and mind awake. When we had to do some overnight stuffs and travel to Manila for some kinda of a “field trip”, Taho is our companion.
Now that I have kids, I still can’t get enough of this treat. the best I have so far is the taho from strawberry fields in Baguio City. My kids loved that one too, even my husband. Here in our neighborhood, there are two taho vendors. And as much as possible I try not to buy on the other vendor. Their taho both tasted good. It’s the appearance of the vendor that is not appealing… oh goodness their on food business, they should look clean and trimmed, right?
Would you buy a taho from a vendor who has long finger nails? worst, with dirts on it?
Would you buy a taho form a man who hasn’t shaved?
Would you a buy a taho from a man who looked like he had not showered for days?
I can just imagine how much bacteria he is about to transfer while scoping our mouth watering taho.. ugh!
This a taho vendor in Baguio.. tell me, will you buy taho from him?

July 14, 2009 at 1:57 pmI found your site on link referral and was amazed to see pictures from the Philippines! My husband lived in the philies for two years (we're both American. He was serving a mission.) Then we met and got married. We both went to the Philippines on vacation in 2007. He showed me Manila, Baguio, Pagudpud, Sinait, and Dagupan. We loved it so much, we want to move to Baguio in July 2010 with our daughter.

July 14, 2009 at 3:54 pmi stopped eating taho when i caught with my eyes wide open a locat tv documentary / expose about an unsterile factory. but sometimes, cravings kick in. and my son likes it too, but we buy from grocery and commercial stalls. we also sampled that flavored taho (even strawberry flavored) in la trinidad benguet the last time we're in baguio. not bad for taho. except i agree with you that STERILITY not only cleanliness should be observe not only by taho vendors but everyone in the food business.fyi, surgeons sometimes suggest eating taho, soy beans, tofu, egg whites days/hours after surgery provided that renal functions are still intact and no contraindications noted on the client. protein from taho aid in wound healing especially post operative. 😀

July 15, 2009 at 9:38 amEww! Ano ba yan, Pehpot. Pero mabuti na rin you posted something like this. Ako rin namimili ng binibilhan, ang hirap yatang masakitan ng tiyan kapag hindi ka sigurado sa kalinisan ng binibilhan mo.
