EG of Earthlingorgeous posted about this, then saw it in Chuvaness, then at Makoy’s The Certified Pinoy Blogger. To tell you the truth, I don’t know anything about it. Upon reading about it on EG’s I searched a little and understood a little. I know a lot of us does not fully understand it (my hubby too..) and so I will try to shed some light.. err.. convince you to turn your lights off on the EARTH HOUR..
The tag lines on this campaign is: VOTE FOR EARTH or the first Global Election..kinda weird huh.. yeah i was really weirded out when I first saw the tag lines..Vote for what? against what?
Well it seems that this year’s Earth Hour as been transformed as the first Global Election, and the two competing party is EARTH and Global warming. On the last Saturday of March at 8:30 PM,local time, turn off your light if you are in favor of Earth. This campaign aims to have a billion vote for Earth. The 1 billion vote for Earth will be presented in the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.A conference of world leaders, where one of the objectives is to decide weather to take action against global warming.
EARTH HOUR started in Sidney, Australia n 2007 where they turn off their switches for one hour, saving a lot of energy. The numbers of people participating has grown over the years. This year, EARTH HOUR is more than just saving energy, it is turned into SAVING OUR PLANET activity.
All those in favor of EARTH,
TURN IT OFF!

March 23, 2009 at 8:11 amThanks for promoting Earth Hour! Another way you can recruit people to the cause is by creating a Earth Hour group on Commit21.com. Simply create a group about one action that you will commit to do for Earth Hour and recruit your friends, family, and co-workers to get involved in that action as well. When it comes to climate change, simple actions can make huge differences and Commit21 leverages social media to influence networks of friends, family, and co-workers. Check it out at http://www.commit21.com
