Yesterday night me and hubby watched the movie, X Men Origins: Wolverine. Being a fan of X Men, I just can’t let this pass. Aside from that, I want I have a huge crush on Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (the character only, not Hugh Jackman). Actually I am having second thoughts if this movie is worth leaving my kids for a night, as I have read some not so good reviews about it. I also got a hold of its full and detailed synopsis/story and even the bonus scene after the credits (spoiler!) thank you very much imbd.
Let’s begin with the story, this is not wiki or imbd so I will just give a short synopsis of the movie. X Men Origins tells the story of Wolverine, plain and simple. LOL It details the life of Logan before his memory was wiped out and even how his memory was wiped out. It tells his life, his romantic past and his very complex relationship with Victor(Sabretooth) and Stryker(remember him?). New mutants was seen and even famous one that we have been all waiting to appear. X Men Origins, as the title suggest, is the event that leads to the movie, X Men.
Hugh Jackman, of course, starred as Wolverine. Liev Schreiber ( The Painted Veil and Love in the time of Cholera, wow) as Sabretooth while Danny Huston makes Wolverine’s life miserable as William Stryker. Other characters (that is worth mentioning) are: Lynn Collins as Kayla Silverfox, Tim Pocock as the young Scott Summers and Scott Adkins as Weapon XI.
Stryker’s Weapon X unit characters:
Dead Pool (Wade Wilson) by Ryan Reynolds (Definietly Maybe)
The Blob ( Frederick J. Drukes) by Kevin Durand
The Bolt (Chris Bradley) by Dominic Monaghan
John Wraith by Will i Am
Agent Zero by Daniel Henney ( Kim Sam Soon).ohh
Then we have, no less than, Gambit himself, finally! portrayed by Taylor Kitsch.
To make this easier I’ll start with the story line. Oh well, it does give a clearer shot of Logan, but in the end, there are still questions that are left unanswered or makes you question more. The presentation of the story specially the first part was good, it really established the past of Logan and Victor. There are scenes that would make you think you are watching Australia ( Hugh Jackman’s movie with Nicole Kidman) rather than Wolverine (or is it just me?). There are boring and no thanks kind of scenes. The fight scenes are not that superb as there are scenes that are too fast (or is it an effects because of the nature of the fighters?) whatever it is, it is not very pleasing to watch. Cool scenes are of course undeniably present. Wade and Logan gives another genre to the movie, comedy (mushy kind) that is. Breathtaking scenes? just one, the helicopter scene, so better watch out for it because that is where all the action is. Breathtaking sceneries? a lot. Music wise, they don’t have any that as memorable as the other X Men movies have(I hope you know what I am talking about because right now, that sound effect is playing on my head).
I am quite confused with Gambit’s appearance, my thoughts are, is it just a way to please X Men fans? Gambit was really one of my favorite character (from watching X Men cartoons LOL) so it was quite disappointing to see him finally on this movie without much of a history about him. I don’t even consider his role a big one (what? a tour guide of Logan?), power display wise, OK he had his time.
To wrap it up, this movie is not that bad, but it’s not that good too but it was worth leaving my kids for a night.LOL
Watch it guys, if like me, who watched all the other three in cinema, why not let this one pass?
