Kids do ask a lot of question. My 5 year old boy is no exception. He loves bombarding me with difficult to explain type of inquisitions. A couple of months ago, he asked me how are babies made. We go through the length of explaining about the meeting of sperm cells and the egg cells. I explained to him, in the most simple (without explaining the real act) way I can on how the egg is fertilized by the sperm cell. He was convinced but was angry with us. He says, we have to show him how..
Well after that, the baby making is out of the question. Now here comes the harder part, he suddenly asked how are people made. This is very different from how are babies made. Whenever I give him that answer he would just say, how about the one who made the baby? who made them? and I would answer, their mom and dad.. which he would reply, how about their mom and dad? who made them? in the end, he would talk about the mom of mom of my mom, who made them? how are they made.. and it is now clear to us that he is asking for the ORIGIN OF SPECIES..
WHAAAT!?! a five year old kid asking for that? oh yes he has his way on things, he is quite smart for his age I tell you, and most of the time he can out smart his dad (not me of course, I am way too clever for this boy)LOL
How can I explain it to him? I am not a religious person and I don’t want to give the explanation from the bible and I am pretty sure that it would just lead to a more complex debate.
I want to explain to him the theory of evolution but proofs are not enough..
So his clever dad just told him, that we came from nose dirt.. yeah.. nose dirt..
although he did not believed what daddy said, his attention was diverted to nose dirt..
in time baby.. in time..
