I missed toy hunt.. I really do.. just got some loads and loads of must do on my list.. but now I am ready fro some toy hunting! This week’s theme is wild animals.. At first I thought we don’t have some wild animals (only wild mommy LOL) but then I remembered we have some dinos.. A dino on a motorcylce. That is wild, not only on the nature part but also on the lifestyle part.. WILD WILD DINO..

but I think that is too wild.. Then I remembered (again) that we have McDo Happy Meals toy from the movie Madagascar..

The lion character was a hotcake.. we searched more than 5 stores and there was not a lion left.. but there was one actually, but we can’t have one, I have two kids who both wants Alex.. There was a funny incident behind these toys. One time while driving, going back to Manila from Nueva Ecija, we stopped in Gapan (the last town or city of Nueva Ecija) and ate on Walter mart there. Since the kids have been seeing the Mcdo toys in commercials, they want one. Good thing there was a MCdo on that mall. So we proceeded and ordered two happy meals. A happy meal that is not that happy actually. After ordering we told the cashier that the kids want a hipo and a zebra. To my kids’ dismay, it was not yet available. We just have to cancel.. bad costumer? or stupid cashier? what ever.. Back to the toys, they love (and me too) the lemur, who cries, sings I mean, I like to movit movit.. from the movie I like Moto.. specially the scene where a fellow hippo said, Moto mo0t will like ya…coolness! and I knew Alex was gay.. he is so so vain and showy.. but I love him…I also like Marty but not his herd.LOL So there you go guys, if you have some untamed animals on your anik (a term I used for their toys box.. ani or anik anik or ano ano)box come on share it with us! This is a toy that my sister gave to Kayil. She bought it in Divisoria, for 35 PhP. This is one of the cheapest toy in his collections. Cheapest not because it was less than a dollar, it was cheap because at that value my son can learn a lot from that toy. He can do addition and subtraction using this.

It has 13 columns with two beads on top representing heaven(upper deck) and 5 beads down representing Earth (lower deck). The decks are separated by a horizontal beam. The use of abacus is rather complicated to my simple neurons, I have to dig and dig and read more in order to learn how to use it. Here is a site that best describe how it is used, go on and play with it, it’s fun. Well it seems that it was not really that hard. From what I remember, using it is as easy as dumplings (yum!eating dumplings,, shrimp preferably). Each upper deck beads are valued as 5, and the lower decks are valued as 1. If you are to count 6, all you need is to move the beads towards the beam, 1 from the upper deck, then 1 from the lower deck. Each column is valued as tens, hundreds, thousands and so on (starting from right). If you need to count 105, the placement of beads are as followed: 1st column: 1 bead from the upper deck 2nd column: no beads (since there is no tens value) 3rd column: 1 bead from the lower deck A 6789 value is represented as: 1st column: 1 bead from the upper deck, 4 beads from the lower deck 2nd column: 1 bead from the upper deck, 3 beads from the lower deck 3rd column: 1 bead from the upper deck, 2 beads from the lower deck 4th column: 1 bead from the upper deck, 1 beads from the lower deck I never experienced using an abacus so forgive me for my elaborate entry.. Have you tried adding or subtracting using an abacus?
