Sibika is a subject in most elementary classes. This deals with the history of the country. It is like social studies and culture for kids. And that subject is being taught in Filipino.
I find it really hard to teach him subjects in Filipino language, there are words that is hard to express in Filipino and most words used in their subjects were pure Filipino.. words like mapagkumbaba.. kirot sa puso.. ehh? who’s using those words anyway? I mean in their ordinary day? Of course, I have to try harder and explain him what are the meaning of those. I actually can’t imagine people who is into translation industry, there are words that is really hard to translate into Filipino, take fat burners, how will you say that in Filipino without losing it’s meaning?
It’s hard to explain the concept, when in fact there’s no concept at all. Unlike in Math, you just need to know the theories and you can solve all the problems. In subject like Sibika, the best way to teach them and make them understand the subject is repitition.
