Buying made to order solid wood furniture is overwhelming pala. Nakakatuwa na in a way nakakakaba. Yan ung na feel ko when we bought some solid wod furniture along Sta Rosa- Tagaytay Road.
This is SOLID WOOD.. maybe not as hard as narra or molave but these are real wood and not compressed ones.
Mas lamang syempre ang excitement. This is it na talaga! Magkakabahay na kame for real!
Before our buying “spree” picnic muna sa Picnic Grove becuase Sati likes it that way, pero sa totoo lang, tipid mode lang sa almusal kaya pumayag ako (although my intestines are asking for Antonio’s! haha)
OK pala sa Picnic Grove no… last time kase we were there, parang ang gulo gulo..puro lamesa lang ang nakita ko noon at sobrang hangin. In fair, there is really a place for pegs like that. The grass area is located near the souvenir shops. Medyo challening bumababa sa picnic area and maineet so better be there before 8 AM!
We enjoyed our picnic naman and the kids had fun rolling down the slopes and blowing bubbles (tipid tip: magbaon kayo ng sariling bubbles nyo, OK naman bumili sa mga tindero pero sayang pera.. yung mga tinda nila mura nga pero madali din masira).
Picnic Grove Tagaytay entrance fee is 50 Pesos and Parking is 30 Pesos.. for cottages, rent ranges from 150 to 300 PhP. By the way, the comfort room is OK ha.. not sparkling clean but usable.
Quick stop at Antonio’s (ensaymada!!!) after our picnic then off to the wood furniture stores along Sta Rosa- Tagaytay Road. A few weeks ago nag canvass na kame dito and found only one store that offers upholstered headboard, so dun na muna kame dumiretso sa kanila. Pero sa totoo lang, gusto ko pa rin talaga mag ikot ikot muna at magtanong tanong before deciding kaso Celyn of ABJ Wood Carvings and Antiques is very accommodating. And not only that, she really knows a lot about wood furniture.
Off limits sa camera ang loob ng shop (photo from outside lang yan, marami pa sa loob) nila so I can’t really show you their works but it’s really good. Maganda ang finish nila and designs. Since she really knows about their business hindi ako nahirapan i discuss sa kanya yung mga gusto ko at limitations ko.
Types of Wood Used In Furniture
But Celyn said Gmelina is better than Mahogany in terms of treatment. Ang Mahagonay daw nag bubukbok kahit i treat unlike Gmelina. Other woods used in making solid wood furniture aside from Mahaogany and Gmelina are Acacia, Tangili, Ipil, Narra and Molave. BJ Wood Carvings and Antiques only offers furniture made from Gmelina, Mahogany and Acacia.
